About Us
The Carleton University Journalism Society represents the j-school’s students, running academic and social events geared towards professional and peer networking.
Each year, a team of executives is elected to fulfil a variety of engagement-specific roles, including (but not limited to) planning major program-wide formals and panels, designing j-school merchandise, and overseeing our newest success, Project J.
Alongside the executive team is a group of appointed year representatives, working in year-specific teams to create and execute smaller events aimed specifically at their own years. In the past, these events have ranged from paint nights, movie viewings, and group dates to The Loft, Ottawa’s premier board game café!
Together, our team works hard to ensure past, present, and future journalism students at Carleton feel a sense of community amongst their peers and instructors.

PROJECT J
Project J piloted in 2019 as a way to recognize, promote and reward talented pieces of all mediums by the university’s journalism students.
MENTORSHIP
Our mentorship program pairs newer students with those who have more experience in the program, allowing them a chance to develop skillsets as both mentees and mentors.
